New Luxury Cars - Nissan Leaf  World Car of the Year Award

The Nissan Leaf just won the World Car of the Year award. This Nissan Leaf shows a 8 hour battery charge on a 220-240V power supply and produces zero tailpipe emissions and it’s the first mass-produced 5 seat EV hatchback.  It has a maximum speed of 90 mph (145 km), but Nissan has said it can reach 100 mph (161 km) on full charge.

LEAF stands for “Leading, Environmentally Friendly, Affordable, Family car”. The runners up award was to Audi A8 and BMW 5 Series. The Chevrolet Volt won the 2011 World Green Car award. 66 top journalists from 24 countries were working as jury who selected the winning vehicles in the recent New York Auto Show. The Jury in that New York Auto Show commented that, “Its low centre of gravity produced sharp turn-in with almost no body roll and no understeer. The good news? It feels just like a normal car, only quieter.”
